Welcome to Chatham Grammar School for Boys, an 11-18 Boy’s Grammar school, with girls in the Sixth Form. I hope you will gain a flavour of the School; information about what we do well and some idea about the day-to-day life of the School.
Chath
am Grammar School for Boys will soon be celebrating its 100th anniversary of providing selective education to the young people of Medway and beyond (Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham, Rainham, Maidstone and North Kent). There is some evidence to show our heritage dates back as far as 1817.
Our students do well academically and the majority progress on to Universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. GCSE results are invariably between 95% to 100%, 5 A*-C including English and Mathematics. Our students commence their programme of study at GCSE in Year 9 and have a curriculum, personalised to their needs. Our Advanced Level provision is one of the most extensive in the region and with so many students joining our own at this key stage we are pleased that our academic performance continues to improve.
The School occupies a beautiful Manor House with mature grounds. It has access to Sports facilities both on and off-site. We are also looking to the acquisition of further facilities in the near future. The school’s ethos blends traditional values with a forward-looking approach to education and learning.
Chatham Grammar School for Boys is committed to academic excellence; the development of the arts and sporting success. In recent years our work has been recognised in a variety of ways: whether by our ‘Good’ Ofsted Inspection Report; recognition as a Training School and now as part of a Teaching School; the Award of Artsmark and Eco-Schools; as well as a Specialist Science School. We welcome applications to most year groups, where appropriate, and have in excess of 900 students.
Our staff and students thrive on mutual learning and are proud to be part of this community that we call ‘Holcombe’. I hope that you will wish to visit the School whether on an Open Day or one of our other occasions when we can show what we do that works so well with our students. I am sure they would wish to share with you their experiences at the School.
